Three things decide whether solar pays back quickly in a given state: how much sun a roof actually receives, what you currently pay per kilowatt hour, and what support is available locally. California scores well on all three, which is why it remains our busiest region.
Sunshine is only half the story
Plenty of states get good irradiance. What makes the difference here is the price of grid electricity — the higher your current rate, the more every self-generated kilowatt hour is worth. That is what shortens payback, not sunshine alone.
Local rules matter more than people expect
Permitting, interconnection and inspection requirements vary between counties, and a system designed without knowing them can fail at inspection. Our engineers work in this state week in, week out, so the paperwork is routine rather than a research project.
Shade, roofs and reality
Mature trees, north-facing pitches and older tile roofs all affect what is worth installing. We would rather tell you at survey stage that a smaller array makes more sense — or that your roof needs work first — than quote for something that underperforms.
